City Saver Books

Thank you to everyone who has either sold or returned the City Saver Books!  This is a reminder that today is the last day of the fundraiser.  If you haven't sold or returned the book, please do so tomorrow or pay $25 to keep the book.

Homework

I just wanted to remind everyone about homework  It will come home at the beginning of each month on the back of the first grade newsletter.  (It's on bright green paper this month.)  Please make sure you sign each week indicating that your child has practiced the sight words, word study words, and read five books.  As I was checking yesterday, I noticed only 5 students had parent signatures.  Also, it might be a good idea to keep the homework paper in the folder behind the calendar so it doesn't get lost!

September 5-8

- Progress Reports will be issued on Wednesday.

-Scholastic Book orders are due on Friday.

This week we will be learning about weather and ways to make the numbers 6, 7, & 8.  Due to the short week last week (and the short week this week) we will continue with nouns and short i.

Reminders

We are about 60 families away from meeting our PTA goal.  If you haven't joined yet, please do!  I can send home another form if needed...just let me know.  Although we would love to have you attend the meetings, please know that by joining PTA you are not necessarily committing to going to all the meetings.  You could consider the $10 joining fee a donation to A.Z. Kelley!

I sent home black "Graded Work" folders on Tuesday.  These folders will come home every week.  Please take a moment to look over your child's work and make note of skills that need additional practice, as well as skills your child is mastering.  Sign the log and return the folder to school within a day or two.  Please keep the work at home.

I am sending home our first Scholastic book order today.  This is an excellent way to build up your child's home library at an affordable cost!  Each book order features a book for $1.  You can't beat that price on a brand new book!  Book orders are due on Friday, September 8th.

Hey everyone! I’m so sorry I haven’t posted anything in such a long time. I promise to try harder this spring!

VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER:

The 1^st Grade Music Program is this Thursday (April 6th) at 6pm. Your child should be in our classroom at 5:30 to prepare for the program.  The kids will be wearing jeans and our class t-shirt. I will give them their shirt when they arrive at 5:30 Thursday night.

Last week we took a walk outside to look for living and nonliving things. The kids loved using magnifying glasses for this!
