Pie Tasting Party

Thank you to everyone who sent in a pie last week. The kids had a blast tasting and graphing their favorite pies!

1st Grade Food Drive

As part of our Project Based Learning, students presented posters and information about the food drive to other classes. We are so proud of their speaking skills! The food drive is November 12-21, and the donations will be given to Second Harvest Food Bank.  Please help us reach our class goal of collecting at least 20 cans!

Lucky Ladd Farms

Field trip permission slips and money are due tomorrow (Monday)! If any parents would like to go, please let us know Monday so you can get the group rate.  Plus, Lucky Ladd's needs an accurate count of people who will be going.

PTA

Hooray! We met our PTA membership goal!  School Spirit Fridays will begin tomorrow. Thank you to all the families who joined PTA!  Research shows that children whose parents are involved in their school make better grades and have fewer disciplinary problems at school. 

We only need $46 to get our project funded for our students to get an iPad mini!  I'm really hoping we can get this funded over fall break!

The Colors of Us

We recently learned about culture and concluded our unit with the book, The Colors of Us.  This book celebrates the differences and similarities that connect all people. 

PTA

We need less than 100 families to join PTA so we can meet our goal of having 350 families join!  Remember, we get to have School Spirit Fridays (jeans and an A.Z. Kelley t-shirt) if we meet our goal!  Also, I will pay for a pizza party if 100% of our class joins!!! I understand that many of you have busy schedules, and that's ok!  You can be as involved as you want to be.  We really appreciate those of you who have already joined, and if you're interested, you could consider sponsoring another family's membership.  Let me know if you'd like to do that!

iLearn With An iPad

We have a project posted on Donors Choose to get an iPad for the students to use at school.  We are so close to having enough donations, but we still need a few more. We worked on making inferences this week!  Ask your child to tell you the fancy word for "what you already know" (schema).

Dress Up Days

Don't forget that tomorrow is pajama day!  Also, kids can wear their favorite sports team's shirt with jeans on Friday!

Snow Cones

Thank you, parents, for sending back the Household Information Surveys!  100% of A.Z. Kelley's forms were returned, so everyone got a snow cone to celebrate!
